News Roundup for November the 13th
November 13th, 2008 by SJC | Filed under News Roundup.Yesterday was an iPod patching day, with updates released for the Nano and Classic. But you’ve got to feel sorry for Apple. No sooner do they whack one bug another pops up to replace it. The latest is reported by Ars Technica to affect the iPhone and maybe possibly perhaps allow arbitrary execution of code. Or not. To be on the safe side I’ll be keeping my iPhone in a locked drawer for now. And then upgrade to the iPhone Nano when it’s released.
Also due for an update sometime soon is OS X. Version 10.5.6 is rumoured to focus on MobileMe, and in particular will tighten-up syncing between mobile devices — possibly worked in conjunction with new features in the updated iPhone OS. (That’s an Æ exclusive bit of scuttlebutt, that is.)
It looks like our long wait for the new in-ear headphone may be nearing its end, with reports that the old ones are no longer available. Wondering where to get yours? Well, you now have 250 Apple Stores to choose from. And Steve continues his virtual MacArthur-esque march around the Pacific with the opening of the on-line Apple Store in Thailand. But you may want to hold off for a little while on those purchases — it’s suggested that Apple’s ‘Black Friday’ sales will be particularly discount-tastic this year. Whatever they are.
And now a quick warning to the general Mac community: if the news doesn’t get a little more interesting soon we’re going to start doing daily roundups of all the new iPhone case releases. And I don’t think any of us want that, do we?
