News Roundup for November the 21st

November 21st, 2008 by SJC | Filed under News Roundup.

I guess there’s only one really big story today, and that’s the latest software update from Apple. Yep, that’s right. iTunes 8.0.2 is out. Oh, and by the looks of things, so is iPhone OS 2.2. We’re all downloading and installing them right now, so we’ll bring you our thoughts later today. First impressions are good, mainly because the iPhone one it isn’t a paid upgrade for the iPod Touch. I guess Apple are saving that for 3.0. But the reports that they don’t get the improved Maps app don’t sound too good. Expect more as we delve deeper.

Of course, the one feature we know is still missing from the iPhone is MMS. But don’t worry, ’cause the Swedes have got that covered. And do you know where that app won’t be features? On Apple’s newiPhone Your Life” page. ‘iPhone’ as verb, eh? Whatever next? The page lists picks of apps from the App Store arranged by categories, and also includes lists of the top 10 in each and overall. This should give everyone something to do while they wait for Santa to bring their DisplayPort to DVI connectors. Or at least while they wait for iPhone SimCity to give them something else to do while they wait for Santa to bring their DisplayPort to DVI connectors. I can see I won’t be getting much work done in December, and I’m not even waiting for any cables.

And in non-iPhone news… well, page 13 of iTeam, our Apple-themed comic adventure, is out. And that’s about all we’ve got.
