News Roundup for December the 4th

Today’s big story — where ‘big’ is a relative term — is that iPods appear to be in short supply. Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu revealed this is a note to investors. I’m not sure how he wanted them to react. Maybe prepare themselves for disappointment on Christmas morning? A quick check of Amazon UK suggests everything over here’s just fine, though. (As things also seem to be Stateside. Hmm.) So… who wants to be the first to suggest people get a Zune instead?
For our readers in Thailand, you can now look forward to getting the iPhone soon, to go along with your new Prime Minister. This is apparently great news for the Thais, who have been waiting for ‘long time.’ (Someone will have to explain that one to me.)
As the brouhaha surrounding Apple’s anti-virus stance continues to bubble along, it good to hear some sane advice from… Æ’s regular Wintard piñata The Mac Sucks!? Is that right? Wow. Anyway, the advice that you install anti-virus software on your Mac to help it act as a firebreak for all your Windows-loosing friends is a great one. Call it a public service. It’s the kind of good thing Santa looks for.
In other non-news, Stephen Colbert has succeeded in toppling Kanye West from the iTunes #1 album spot. Which is… news. I guess. Anyway, over here, the top album accolade is currently held by Neanderthal Manc rockers Oasis. The campaign to have Cliff’s 50th Anniversary Album dethrone them begins here. Make me proud, people.
Finally, this week’s readers’ offer comes from World of Apple. Like that 10,000 iPhone apps collage which has been doing the rounds lately? Want your own version to hang on your wall, maybe so you can cross the apps off as you download them? Well click through and buy a print now. And for once, it looks like us UKers are getting the best deals. So what are you waiting for?
