News Roundup for December the 17th

Since I’ve already dashed off a quick post concerning yesterday’s big news I won’t be covering it again here. Suffice to say we’re currently hitting-up all our Apple contacts to bring you the real skinny on what went down in Cupertino. (Sorry, but for some reason I appear to be channelling Huggy Bear.) Meanwhile, those hilarious internet pranksters were quickly on the scene with the news that Apple had also cancelled Christmas. Do you see what they did there?

So with the recession hitting Mac sales, you may be asking yourself, “What is there left to look forward to?” Well, the ironically misnamed iPhone Dev Team have announced that their iPhone 3G unlock will be released on New Year’s Eve. Hopefully at the end of a countdown, and to the accompaniment of exploding glitter balls. Surely they can pwn the big screens in Time Square for their how to video?

What else? Well, AOL has released AIM v1.0 for OS X. Remember AOL from back in the 90s? I didn’t even know they were still around. My Mum’s got their old CDs hanging from just about every tree in her garden as bird scarers. Oh, happy days.

Umm… What else? Well, Gavin Barraclough has become a WebKit reviewer. So we’d like to join his parents in congratulating him on that. I guess.
