News Roundup for December the 22nd
December 22nd, 2008 by SJC | Filed under News Roundup.‘Tis the season to be jolly, right? Good will to all men, right? Peace on Earth? Well, seems like someone didn’t get the memo. Yep, that’s you I’m looking at, Bob Pearson of Dell. Seems Bob isn’t too happy with Apple’s latest ‘Greenest laptop’ MacBook ads, and has blogged about it — ah, bless — causing Robert ‘Gonna have to face it you’re addicted to the Mac and all things Apple’ Palmer of TUAW to launch an Enderlistic reprisal. I guess on balance we should come down on Robert’s side — it is, after all, a very fine, sometimes difficult to walk line which separates reasoned rebuttal from fanboi hissy-fit — but next time, when they’re talking about worldwide recycling, how about linking to Apple’s international recycling page, Rob?
So what treats have/haven’t Apple got in store for us at next month’s/year’s MacWorld? How about this bad boy, courtesy of the good Doc?

The whole Apple blogosphere is in agreement that this Mac Mini mock-up looks much better now they’ve ‘Shopped-out the MacBook’s lid.
Are you still looking for something Apple-related to fill up that empty week between Christmas and MacWorld? (I’m assuming that you don’t have plans for New Years because… well, I don’t actually have to say it, do I?) Don’t forget that we’ve got the release of the Yellowsn0w iPhone 3G SIM unlocking doodah to look forward to on New Year’s Eve. Check out this video of ‘MuscleNerd’ demonstrating it in action. Man, I’ve got to get me a cool hacker handle. And one of those slide-open Nokias from The Matrix.
Finally — and mostly in order to highlight just exactly how little news there is around at the moment — ifo Apple Store brings us news that Apple is switching to new minimalist packaging with a great big picture of the thing inside the box on it’s outside. You have no idea how much I’m looking forward to MacWorld starting.
