Like Price Drop TV for the iPhone

One thing which Apple’s small and stable product line insulates us from is that sinking feeling you get when you discover the PC you’ve just bought now costs less than when you picked it up and joined the end of the checkout queue. The same holds true for most Mac software. No, if you really want that kick-yourself-for-not-waiting-a-few-days-longer feeling the place to go seems to be the App Store.
iPhone app review site par excellence 148Apps has introduced a Recent Price Drops page especially to track the phenomenon. If you’ve got your eye on a particular something from the App Store then firstly, well done you for showing such restraint, and secondly, why not visit the site and see if there’s a bargain waiting to reward your patience.
This link comes via an article on the Unofficial Apple Weblog (aren’t we all?) where Erica Sadun details a more general trend in App Store price reductions. The fact that users prefer to pay as little as possible for their apps is completely unsurprising but at the same time somewhat depressing — I think that this unwillingness to pay for quality and creative time spent is yet another indication that the “Mac user” and “iPhone user” circles of this particular Venn diagram don’t fully overlap.
